Sugar Ray Robinson was to boxing what Ted Williams was to hitting a baseball, what Charlie Parker was to jazz, and what color was to television. He was handsome, arrogant, charismatic and such a brilliant fighter that he inspired the phrase "pound for pound, the greatest boxer to ever live." But in HBO's latest "Sports in the 20th Century" documentary, "Sugar Ray Robinson: The Bright Lights and Dark Shadows of a Champion," we see not only his extraordinary skill in the ring, but also his many foibles outside it. Robinson's record was 175-19-6. (WP)
